'The Shape of Water' (La Forma del Agua), la cinta del cineasta mexicano Guillermo del Toro, ha sido la gran triunfadora en los premios Critics' Choice al lograr cuatro galardones: mejor película, mejor director, mejor diseño de producción y mejor banda sonora.
Los Critics' Choice, que organizan cada año las organizaciones de críticos Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) y Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA), celebró su 23 edición este jueves en la ciudad californiana de Santa Mónica.
Tras los cuatro galardones conseguidos, 'The Shape of Water' se consolida como uno de los largometrajes destacados en la carrera hacia los Óscar, después de que el pasado domingo lograse también dos Globos de Oro (mejor director y mejor banda sonora).
Gary Oldman se llevó el galardón al mejor actor por 'Darkest Hour', mientras que Frances McDormand se hizo con el premio a la mejor actriz por 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri' (Tres Anuncios por un Crimen).
'Coco', la película de Disney inspirada en el Día de los Muertos de México, ganó los reconocimiento a la mejor cinta animada y a la mejor canción por 'Remember Me'.

En cuanto a las categorías de la pequeña pantalla, 'The Handmaid's Tale' consiguió la distinción al mejor drama, 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel' logró el premio a la mejor comedia, 'Big Little Lies' se alzó con la victoria en el apartado de mejor serie limitada y 'The Wizard of Lies' se anotó el galardón a la mejor película televisiva.
El premio al mejor actor de un drama fue a parar a Sterling K. Brown ('This Is Us'), mientras que la estatuilla a la mejor intérprete dramática se la quedó Elisabeth Moss ('The Handmaid's Tale').
Ted Danson ('The Good Place') y Rachel Brosnahan ('The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel') se llevaron los premios al mejor actor y la mejor actriz de comedia, respectivamente.
Por último, Nicole Kidman ('Big Little Lies') ganó el premio a la mejor actriz de una serie limitada o película para televisión, mientras que Ewan McGregor ('Fargo') consiguió el mismo reconocimiento en el apartado masculino.
