Miles de vuelos cancelados en EEUU por una nueva tormenta invernal

La tormenta invernal que afecta a una parte del oeste y del centro de Estados Unidos ha causado la cancelación de más de 1.636 vuelos y el retraso de otros casi 7.000 hasta este miércoles, según el portal Flight Aware.

El aeropuerto más afectado es el de la ciudad de Minneapolis, en Minnesota, que este miércoles canceló 193 vuelos, el 44 % del total; seguido del de Detroit (Michigan), que suspendió 115 (un 28 % del total), y el de Denver (Colorado), que dejó en tierra 111 aviones, un 12 % de los que tenían previsto despegar.

Según el Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (NWS, en inglés) de EEUU, la “significante tormenta” que avanza de la costa oeste hacia la este “seguirá produciendo tanto fuertes nevadas como agua nieve”, a lo que se suma vientos intensos y racheados.
