La película independiente Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, la serie Glow y la miniserie Big Little Lies, con cuatro nominaciones cada una, parten como favoritas en la 24 edición de los premios del Sindicato de Actores de Estados Unidos (SAG, por sus siglas en inglés) que se entregan esta noche.
La cinta de Martin McDonagh es candidata en las categorías de mejor reparto, mejor actriz (Frances McDormand), mejor actor de reparto ( Woody Harrelson y Sam Rockwell), mientras que Lady Bird, de Greta Gerwig, cuenta también con grandes opciones gracias a sus tres candidaturas: mejor reparto, mejor actriz (Saoirse Ronan) y mejor actriz de reparto (Laurie Metcalf).
El principal trofeo de estos galardones, el de mejor reparto, también incluye este año a los actores de
The Big Sick, Get Out, y
Mudbound.
En el campo de mejor actor, los elegidos son Timothee Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name), James Franco (The Disaster Artist) Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) y Denzel Washington (Roman J. Israel, Esq.). Como mejor actriz, las contrincantes de Ronan y McDormand son Judi Dench, (Victoria & Abdul), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) y Margot Robbie (I, Tonya).
