Harry y Meghan asisten a los Royal Ascot

Los duques de Sussex, el príncipe Harry y su esposa Meghan, acudieron hoy por primera vez juntos a las carreras de caballos del Royal Ascot, una de las citas deportivas favoritas de la reina Isabel II.

Meghan escogió para su estreno en el célebre hipódromo un traje de color blanco de la firma francesa Gyvenchy, la misma que eligió para su vestido de boda el pasado 19 de mayo, que combinó, como marca la tradición, con una vistosa pamela.

La exactriz se trasladó en un carruaje acompañada por su marido -ambos harán entrega esta tarde de uno de los trofeos- y por los condes de Wessex, el príncipe Eduardo y su mujer Sofía.

Antes que ellos llegaron al hipódromo, situado en el condado de Berkshire, cerca del castillo de Windsor, la reina Isabel II, que vistió de amarillo, acompañada de su hija la princesa Ana, quien ayer se convertía en abuela por cuarta vez después de que su hija Zara Tindall diera a luz a su segunda hija.

Tampoco quisieron perderse la primera jornada del torneo el heredero a la corona británica, el príncipe Carlos, su esposa la duquesa de Cornualles y el duque de York.

Más de 300.000 personas se dan cita cada año en el circuito ecuestre de Ascot, fundado por la reina Ana en 1711, para asistir a las carreras que se celebran durante 5 días y que suponen uno de los eventos deportivos y sociales más prestigiosos del verano inglés.
