Ayer, en horas de la noche a través de la página oficial de la banda, se dio a conocer que el baterista y fundador de Pantera, Vinnie Abbott, había muerto.
De momento se desconoce la causa de muerte de Abbott. Ninguno de los otros integrantes de la desaparecida banda se ha pronunciado.
“Vincent Paul Abbott, alias Vinnie Paul, falleció”, indica la declaración, y agrega que “Paul es mejor conocido por su trabajo como baterista en las bandas Pantera y Hellyeah. No hay más detalles disponibles en este momento. La familia pide que se respete su privacidad durante este tiempo”.
A mediados de los ochenta, Vinnie Paul fundó Pantera junto a su hermano, el guitarrista Dimebag Darrell Abbott, quien murió asesinado en diciembre de 2004.
Después llegó el bajista Rex Brown, y en 1987, con la entrada del vocalista Phil Anselmo, se definió los integrantes que se dieron a conocer en el escena metalera de los siguientes años.
Posteriormente la banda se desintegró a inicios de los 2000. Paul y Darrell formaron el grupo Damageplan.
Luego, Vinnie Paul formó parte de Hellyeah, banda con la que publicó cinco discos.
Quienes se han manifestado por la muerte Abbot son algunos músicos representativos.
